Sneak Peek:
Harley Davidson
Museum
Will open here at the
Menomonnee valley in June.
With a restaurant, cafe and
special event space for up
to 15 000 people another
grewt addition to the valley.
.....more....
Up in the valley: New addition to Potawatomi Bingo
Casino enhances the Menomonee Valley ’s tourist
appeal.
The recent grand opening of the $240 million expansion of the
Potawatomi Bingo Casino is another reason the once-drab and
semi-deserted industrial Menomonee Valley is now a
destination for tourists and residents alike.
Meanwhile, the new Harley-Davidson Museum east of the
casino on Canal St. is awaiting its coming-out July 12.
We long have harbored concerns about the proliferation of
gambling in this state, but we acknowledge its immense appeal
and the huge role it plays in tourism and, yes, creation of new
jobs.
To that point, the Potawatomi casino has been an asset to
Milwaukee and certainly to the developing valley with its array
of restaurants and impressive 600-seat cabaret dinner theater
that regularly hosts big-name entertainment.
The new 500,000 square-foot addition continues that tradition
with two new restaurants, a food court and an eye-catching
glitzy center bar lounge.
And since gambling, like it or not, is obviously one of the main
attractions of any casino, the new Potawatomi now boasts
more than 3,100 slot machines, more than 100 table games, an
expanded poker room and an off-track betting room.
No doubt about it; this is an impressive entertainment facility
and a boon to the valley and the city.
We’d be remiss if we also didn’t point out that the
Potawatomi have been first-rate corporate citizens.
Besides dutifully making payments to the state under the terms
of their compact, the Potawatomi contribute a good share of
their admittedly large earnings to a number of local
organizations and charitable causes. Congratulations on the
opening.
